"Um," she hesitated. "I'm working on it," she smiled, not wanting to reveal the fact that Aunt Eliza had actually helped a little bit with the pie. They all laughed as they remembered what an awful cook Cecily used to be.
"Oh, Felix. You're going to be an uncle," Janet told him excitedly.
"That's what Izzy was telling me. How is Felicity?"
"She's doing well. Gus has finally got most of his eyesight back, and they are both still at the Foundling Home. Things are going wonderfully. Felicity is so excited."
"I think Grandma is more excited," Alec kidded and gave his wife a kiss on the cheek.
"Grandma's a little excited too," she blushed realizing she'd gotten caught.
"What is Gus doing besides helping with the Foundling Home?" Felix asked. "Is he working at the hotel?"
"No, he works at the Carmody Cannery," Cecily told him.
"Mr. Tremayne still around?"
"Yes," Izzy said. "But he's getting worn down because business has been doing well. Last time I talked to him he said he was thinking about trying to find an assistant manager. He just hasn't found the right person yet."
"Really?" Felix raised his eyebrows. "Guess I'll need to stop by the White Sands today and check things out."
"I'm sure he'd love to have you back, Felix." Alec smiled. "You were one of his best employees."
Felix blushed and changed the subject. "Where's Aunt Hetty?"
"Aunt Hetty and Rachel Lynde are on an extended vacation. They decided to do some traveling around North America before they get 'too old and frail,'" he smiled.
"Good for them. If Rachel Lynde is gone, than who is taking care of Davey and Dora?"
"Foundling home," Alec said. "Your sister was happy to take them in, and the kids love it there."
"You mean nobody is staying at Green Gables or Rose Cottage??"
"No."
Felix was quiet a moment. "Do you think Aunt Hetty would let me stay at Rose Cottage? Just till she came back from her long vacation."
"Whatever would you want to stay at Rose Cottage for, Felix?" Janet asked. "You're more than welcome to take your old room back. Daniel would love the company."
"Just for the experience, mother," Felix smiled. "I think it would be fun. You wouldn't have to worry, though. I'd be around all the time."
"I don't see why Hetty would mind, son," Alec told him. "If that's what you want to do."
