It didn't take me long to figure out what to do about the one-year anniversary of The Lost Season website. That was simple--do a special episode. What took me longer was what to write in the episode. My original plan was to write an episode with Felix and Cecily in therapy in 1915 sharing their woes of WWI and childhood, respectively. But then various members of the Avonlea Club at Yahoo! checked out the Avonlea 2000 section of my own Avonlea site (now long-defunct) and began throwing out ideas for what the characters might be doing. Immediate props go out to those people (Beth, Mags, Nancy,...you know who you all are!), because I decided to scrap the therapy special and write a "regular" Avonlea episode--Avonlea 2000 style!
Now, to those of you whose jaws are dropping right now and thinking, "What has this woman done?" or "Are you crazy?" or even "Avonlea in 2000?! What about respecting the Victorian and Edwardian eras and the way Sullivan and Lucy Maud Montgomery wrote their characters in the first place?" Do me a favour. You may either press your browser's back button now close this window now, or take the following episode with a grain of salt. It's merely an interpretation of what life in Avonlea may be like in the Twenty-First Century. Don't jump to conclusions just yet. Read the episode in full, and think about the content. Sure, it is written as a present-day episode of your favourite comedy or drama may be written, but who knows? You just might find some
of the Avonlea Spirit you've come to know and love still present within.
Got your grain of salt? Are your wits about you? Then read on! If not, you know what to do.
