Fair Lady

Chapters 7 and 8

When we got to the White Sands. Felix had told me that he wanted to talk to me about something, but he didn't say what. I was thinking to myself, I just hope that Velma or Adeline don't try to mess up this evening.

After Felix and I had danced a few dances Felix said to meet him in room 412 in five minutes. I did as he told me; I was in room 412 in five minutes. Then I found a note in the fireplace mantle it said:

Dear Izzy,
Whatever you do don't turn around.

Yours Truly,
Felix

Just then someone grabbed me from behind and said, "I've got you now, Izzy Pettibone."

Cecily was wondering where Felix and Izzy were. He had asked Joseph if he knew where Felix was. Joseph replied, "Felix said that he had some business to take care of, but he'd be back in a few minutes."

That made Cecily feel a lot better. Suddenly a wave of emotion come over her, and she gave Joseph a kiss on the cheek. When she began to go back inside, Joseph grabbed jer arm and kissed Cecily on the lips! Cecily then asked, "What was that for?"

Joseph replied, "Cecily, I think I love you. No...I know I love you. Will you please go courting with me?"

I screamed, "Let go of me you, you brute! Get your hands off of me!"

Just then, the figure turned me around, kissed me hard on the mouth, and said, "Maybe that will teach you not to call me names."

"Oh it's only you, Felix." Just then I broke down crying. "I thought you were a man from Halifax that was following me!"

Felix apologized saying, "I'm so sorry, Izzy. I had no idea that something like that would happen to you."

Just then we heard voices coming from the outside of the window {it was open}. Felix looked out, and he saw Adeline and Velma putting up a ladder outside of the window. Then he whispered in my ear, "I know a way that we can play a prank of our own on Adeline and Velma."

Cecily cried out "Yes, yes, yes, Joseph Osborne, I will go courting with you! I think I have always loved you, ever since I came back from the sanitarium!

We finally got every thing set up. Then Felix motioned me to start. "Felix," I said, "do you think that we should elope or have kids and then get married?"

Felix replied saying, "Why don't we elope? It sounds more romantic to me. Besides, we already have one on the way."

We heard a gasp coming from the window. Then Felix came over to me and put his arms around my waist. Then I turned around and said, "Felix, do you think it's getting kind of cold in here?"

He answered back, "I'll go close the window."

Adeline and Velma didn't have time to get there fingers out of the way so they had smashed fingers. Yet, they didn't make a sound. Just then, Mr. Tremayne went outside and saw Velma and Adeline looking in on Felix and I, and he had a fit! He had Constable Jeffries come and arrest Adeline and Velma. They had to work at the hotel until they had their sentence paid off. Finally, Felix and I had some time to ourselves.

Felix had made dinner for me in room 414. He forgot to tell me that it was room 414 instead of room 412 so I guess that's why he scared me to death. He had set me out a candle light dinner that he prepared all by himself. I was very impressed.

After we had finished eating we went to sit and talk on the loveseat. After we had talked for a while Felix got down on his knee and said, "Isolde Jessica Pettibone, Will you marry me?" He went on. "I know I don't have much to offer but we would live a long happy life together."

I was speechless for a few seconds then I said, "Yes, Felix Alexander King, I will marry you. Now," I added, "we have some things to talk over, but first, I want a kiss from my future husband."

Thirty minutes later, Felix had talked Mr. Tremayne into letting Felix say a few words. When Felix got up there he said… "Friends, neighbors, and family. I have to make an announcement. Ms. Izzy Pettibone has agreed to become my wife. We will be married on August the twenty-first. You are all invited to our wedding but you will get formal invitations in the mail. Thank-you and good night."

All at once people started congratulating us. After about ten minutes of people really crowding us, Felix and I decided to get some fresh air. When we got outside Felix said, "Today is June twenty-first. Three months from today, you will be mine...all mine."
