Fair Lady

Chapter 5 and 6

Just one more day until the dance! Cecily and I went to Charlottetown today, to get a new dress for the dance tomorrow. Cecily got a light blue dress and a light blue hat with a fake rose to match. I got a light purple dress with a white simple hat. We saw Adeline and Velma in Charlottetown. I'm not sure, but I think they're following me. I'm just scared that they'll do a prank tomorrow night.

When Cecily and I got to King Farm Felicity was waiting for us. When we got inside Felicity told Gus and the whole King family and some close friends, that she was having twins! {No wonder she was so big!} Well, all at once Gus {who was beside Felicity at the time} jumped up and said, "You mean it? You're sure right?" Then he started panicking. "I'm going to be a father of not just one baby but two babies? What am I going to do? We don't even have an extra crib!"

Then Mr. King reassured Gus saying "You'll be fine, don't worry." Then he whispered to Felicity and Gus "Just make sure that Hetty doesn't take over this birth like she did on Olivia and Jasper's wedding."

Felicity then whispered back, "That reminds me I've got to tell Aunt Olivia and Uncle Jasper the good news!

Just then I went up to Felix and said, "Will you please tell Felicity and Gus that I'm happy for them? I can't do it myself because I have to get home; it's getting very late."

Just then he pulled me into the hall and said, "I guess I'll see you tomorrow."

Then he cupped my face in his hands and gave me a long kiss well I finally pulled away and said, "I really have to get home I'll see you tomorrow!"

Before I went out the door, I turned back to face Felix. "Felix remember," I added, "I love you!" Then we had one last short kiss, and we said our good-byes.

When I was walking home, I thought to myself, Someday, somehow, Isolde Pettibone, you'll marry him.

Today is the dance! I'm so excited! But I'm also kind of scared. Last night when I got home I saw Adeline and Velma hiding behind the bushes right in front of my house so I decide to play a prank of my own. {I'm glad that they didn't see me.} I went up behind them and said, "Boo!"

They ran out of there as fast as a horse that had been stung by a bee. Now I'm sure that they're spying on me, but I'm not going to think about it. Felix called me today and said, "Don't eat supper. I have a surprise for you."

"Gus I'm a nervous wreck," Felix said as he was pacing the floor. "I mean what if she say no? Or even worse what if she says I'll think about it? That is even worse that saying no!"

Gus reassuringly said "All men go through this. Hey, look at me! I proposed to Felicity almost 10 times and I survived, but I still know that Felicity was the right one for me. Look Felix, Felicity and I are having twins! I'm more nervous now than when I proposed to her."

"You're right Gus," Felix replied. "I'm just glad that Izzy and I aren't having twins." Then Felix added with a boyish grin, "Not yet at least."

When Felix came to pick me up, he was with Joseph and Cecily. {Cecily was wearing her blue dress that she got in Charlottetown. Joseph and Felix were wearing their uniforms, and I was wearing my purple dress that I bought in Charlottetown.} On our way to the White Sands, we sang some songs, told jokes and teased Felix about the bullet hole in his Uniform {he had forgot to ask Mrs. King to put a patch on it}. We were all laughing until Felix saw Adeline and Velma in the buggy behind us. Just then Felix leaned over and kissed me. After he finished giving me the kiss he whispered in my ear "Adeline and Velma are in the buggy behind us. The next time I give you a kiss, act like your putting passion into it."

Then a few minuets later he gave me another kiss {Cecily and Joseph were in on the joke}. So I did what he told me to, but this was no acting I was really putting passion into it. Felix got so carried away that we almost ran off the road. We let Adeline and Velma pass us; when they got up the road a little ways, all four of us started laughing. After we all had control of ourselves we got back on the main road. Then finally, Cecily spoke "You know that Adeline and Velma are going to spread rumours about you two."

But Felix came to our defense "Yes, but they'll disappear after tonight."
